Illustration, Fashion, Tattooes.

Inspiration is a great thing, it Sparks the creative juices of the imagination and gives me the energy to create and be ambitious, I love expanding my creative boundaries. I've recently bought a tattoo machine allowing me to finally pursue a side of art that I've wanted to explore since high school. I've also given (to myself) and received my first tattoos (I'll post a pic) and can't wait to execute images from this new tool as I would with a pencil or pen. Learning to draw with a machine feels like a stroke, having the knowledge but learning the steps again (as well as new techniques) to get the final result.

I've also have begun to explore fashion. Cutting up old clothes, copying patterns, altering them and creating new patterns. This is an area that I feel is a whole other half of me that has been put aside (due to pursuing other areas of art) but is now just awakening. I've been drawing stupid little stick figure dresses since I was baby. The catalyst is really wanting to design and create my own clothes. why buy something if you can make it....I'm really excited for this one.

Lastly, I've been forcing the ball to roll on my illustrations. The collection that I will entitle either "SKIN" or "MONOCROMATIC DREAM" (so far my top choice) is an alteration of Tattoo designs that I've created for people. It's really a whimsical look at life. from Birth to death, to the gates of hell to the angles of heaven. This will be my most elaborate and detailed work to date. My due date for this will be before the end of my quarter century year (June 24 2010). I CANT WAIT to show this collection, it gives me allot to look forward to, being my first show and all.

Location Pictures.

These days have been extremely lame and I look forward to exploring new terrains, sunny weather and different cultures. My soul screams for adventure. If someone of wealth and entrepreneurial drive would so kindly purchase the ball and chain that holds my partner and I from leaving, please do so and do so with haste. This lavish Coffee Lounge is located in Beautiful British Columbia, Home of the 2010 Olympics. This lustrous space is sleek, modern yet cozy and perched along the edge of one of Vancouver's busiest street. Get it while its hot, only $90,000. This is not a joke. someone please buy it, I want to go!!!

My Little Blurb.

Artist Statement.

"Some may say that your portfolio is only as good as your worst piece. I believe that Art is subjective and an ever changing level of appeal from one person to the next. I place no boundaries on my art. I explore different styles, mediums, and techniques as you will see in my collections. I will not limit my work to what the majority may judge as my best as I believe there is beauty in every form of expression one chooses. "

I just added this little blurb onto my site due to the realization that I did not want to limit my art. After holding back work because I've been told that I don't have a distinct style (which I feel I do, by the way) Ive decided, why limit my art! To me Art is an expression, I enjoy the feeling of creating something sparked by inspiration or an image in my mind. So I choose to experiment with different styles and try new methods, and the images I create in one moment may not look like another image I create later; I don't feel this dampens my skills or me as an Artist. With that said I hope you will enjoy the work I've added to my site.

Pics in Process

While doing a little bit of file organizing I ran into some process composites of some old illustrations. It's kind of neat seeing where a piece starts and ends.

UP.

I just saw up and I am giving the movie 5 stars! I loved it, it's probably my favorite Pixar movie to date. My friend told me she cried when watching it, and I must admit I too have a tendency to get teary eyed watching Pixar films. "Up" in particular had a very touching back story and I felt that Pixar created a more mature movie accompanied by great concepts and visuals. Prior to the feature presentation is also a great short film, again probably my favorite to date from Pixar. If you haven't seen Up yet and you're a Pixar film lover, go and see it!!

Show Cancelation

Well... I decided that I will be canceling my show for July. With work taking up all my time and the deadline being so soon, I realized I would not get my paintings at a level I would want to put out to the public. I had also scheduled myself 2 weeks in advanced to the show, time to create cards and promote my work....That won't be happening. My hope was to actually try and sell some pieces or at least cover the cost of renting the space. So plan B is to casually work on my Paintings until they start to work for me and hang my pieces at my Partners Coffee Lounge for free (can't beat that price!!). 3436 Coffee Lounge at 3436 West Broadway is the perfect venue for my pieces with its sleek and stylish interior. Take a look!!....PS. anyone interested in buying this place! its on the market!!

New Drawing Book.

Today I bought a new sketchbook from Opus. The black, square, simple, ringed book is small enough to fit snug into my small MEC shoulder bag; my books unofficial new home. The purchase was accompanied by a staed mars plastic eraser, a lumograph sketch set containing 12 pencils, a metal one hole sharpener and a stomp for a total purchase of $39.03. I look forward to the many adventures my new sketchbook and I will have.

Random Thoughts.

I am currently in the process of finding some stable work.
I am feeling creatively drained.
I am gonna put my brushes away for the time being.
I am gonna revise some works and update my portfolio for my grand come back into the art world.

Stay tuned. I will return....

Flash Back

I was sitting here looking at my old demo reel and thought I might share some screen captures from it. it was completed in 2005, and was made for my final project in animation school, Of course we all know where the hard work and knowledge in 3D led me to......2D!? The demo reel is on my site (at the moment) and to be honest, I don't know why. I have no plans of returning to 3D, My skills are out of date, and I am not 100% happy with the work on it.

Some Oldies

I received a reply from a job posting I answered to and was not happy to hear that my website was not working. Since I am quite happy with the layout that Blogger.com offers, I decided to post some old works up on here for those who stumble upon my blog site.

Prints are here. Kinda?

I've decided to sell prints... or at least put up on my site that I sell prints. I just need to find out where to get them printed and what price I'm going to sell them at. Here is what I have so far.

Process behind "Deliver me from Evil"

As you can see, Due to my strict deadline I cut down on the amount of she-devils from my original sketches. Unfortunately, ambition doesn't always make the cut.

The Strange.

This Image was created after seeing a thumbnail profile pic on facebook. The profile picture in small looked completely different from its original size but its composition and lighting in the thumbnail inspired me to create what it was I thought I saw.
